The stars of Weezer have apologised for leaving Canadian fans in the dark at a show in Montreal on Sunday (03Jul11) following a mix-up over their encore.
The band played at the city's Bell Centre as part of its Memories tour and after wrapping up the second half of the two-part show, the band walked offstage and the venue's main lights remained off, leaving the crowd waiting for one more song.
The audience became frustrated when the band didn't appear back on stage and a representative has now explained there were never plans to do an encore, blaming a lighting mix-up for the confusion.
A series of posts on the band's Twitter.com page reads, "Montreal peeps (people) - sorry for confusion! Weezer told show was over, guy who turns lights on was slow - band never heard you calling for encore... We love you Montreal!... That's the truth folks. Also remember: Memories shows are 2 sets,1st the mixed set and then the album set, and that's the show... So the guys walked 2 (sic) the dressing room like always (and) started changing etc. (They) never knew there was any confusion 'till well after. Again, apologies."
