Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band drummer MAX WEINBERG has stepped down as bandleader for U.S. TV comedian CONAN O BRIEN, weeks before the funnyman launches his new late night show.
Weinberg, who led O'Brien's Late Night and Tonight Show bands for 17 years, won't be joining the star when he launches his new programme on America's TBS network on 8 November (10).
In a statement to the New York Post, Weinberg described the split as "mutual", adding, "I wish Conan and his show the best, and I do look forward to dropping by."
Jimmy Vivino, the O'Brien band's longtime guitarist/keyboardist, will replace Weinberg as bandleader. A new drummer has yet to be announced.
Max Weinberg joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band in 1974.
