Oscar nominee Forest Whitaker showed off his singing skills when he guest hosted US satirical show Saturday Night Live at the weekend (10FEB07). THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND star performed Elton John's DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME in a skit about an over-eager singing waiter and he opened his hosting stint with a rousing version of Curtis Mayfield rights anthem PEOPLE GET READY. Famous for his serious roles on film, Whitaker also showed off his comic touch, by playing Bobby Brown's uncle TOMMY in a skit starring SNL regular Maya Rudolph as a desperate Whitney Houston trying to come to terms with the break-up of her marriage on a mock TV Valentine's Day special. As Tommy, Whitaker also performed a version of Al Green's LET'S STAY TOGETHER. The weekend's Saturday Night Live episode also featured troubled country star Keith Urban's first TV performance since completing three months of rehabilitation for alcoholism. His performance was ironically sponsored by beer firm Budweiser.
