A British filmmaker died of a heroin overdose after a "terrible" argument with rocker Pete Doherty, her mother has told a court.
Robyn Whitehead spent the last days of her life shooting a documentary about The Libertines singer, who she once dated, an inquest into the death heard at Poplar Coroner's Court in London on Wednesday (07Sep11).
They were said to have argued in London on 23 January, 2010 - the day before she passed away from heroin poisoning - before he left for his home in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
Her mum Dido told the court she spoke to her 27-year-old daughter on the phone the night before her death, recalling, "She told me, 'There has been a terrible row and I am very upset.'"
Doherty was said to have become "a little jealous" of musician Peter Wolfe, who smoked crack cocaine and heroin with Whitehead in her final hours.
Wolfe, who is serving time for supplying cocaine to Whitehead, told the court, "I was just aware Peter was quite upset I was spending time with Robyn, but I was not aware of any argument between the two. I think Pete was very fond of Robyn and I think they had a relationship before, so maybe he was a little jealous."
Wolfe added, "I was taking drugs throughout this time, and I did not encourage Robyn. She was asking to have a pipe of crack cocaine. I passed it to her once, or a couple of times. I didn't notice Robyn taking a lot of drugs."
Coroner Dr. Andrew Reid recorded a verdict of misadventure.
Doherty was jailed for six months for possessing cocaine stemming from a search by cops following Whitehead's death, but he was released in July (11) after serving less than half of his sentence.
