Whitney Houston's funeral was naturally the centre of controversy yesterday (18 Feb 2012), but many were surprised to see Bobby Brown leave as soon as the service began.

Brown was seen exiting Whitney Houston's funeral and now he has spoken of his actions. In a statement, he stated: 'My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no-one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed, as I refused to create a scene.' He further elaborated: 'My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honour Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.' This comes after angry fans suggested that he should not have been invited to the funeral in the first place after being blamed for Houston's spiral into drugs.

Brown had revealed that he was 'deeply saddened' at the death of Houston who passed away last weekend, aged 48. Kevin Costner and Clive Davis spoke at the service whilst Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder performed tributes.
