Justin Bieber logged into his Twitter account on Tuesday (March 27, 2012) only to discover an unauthorized message that had been sent to his 19 million fans. The post was quickly deleted, though it appears as though the Baby hit-maker - one of the most popular Twitter users in the world - had been hacked.
According to security site Sophos, a message from Bieber's account sent to his millions of followers read, "19 million my ass. Biebermyballs". Despite the rude message, it's surprising that the hacker didn't take the opportunity to cause as much embarrassment as possible with one of the world's most powerful Twitter accounts at their fingertips, though whoever was responsible may have been proving they could simply compromise the account. Sophos writer Graham Cluley said things could have been a lot worse, saying, "Just imagine how much worse things would have been if millions of Justin Bieber fans had seen a tweet from their hero offering, say, free concert tickets - and the link had really pointed to a website designed to strike their computers with malware".
However, the hacker did inflict a little bit more damage before logging out of the account - unfollowing numerous of Bieber's high profile friends. Of course, Justin isn't the first celebrity to have his account compromised - the likes of Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Barack Obama have all had unauthorized messages posted, but the Twitter queen Lady GaGa is yet to fall foul of the hackers.
