Sacha Baron Cohen - Why Did Sacha Baron Cohen Get The Hump At Cannes?
Sacha Baron Cohen has arrived at Cannes film festival riding on a camel, the Press Association reports today (May 16, 2012). The controversial comedian and actor is at the festival to promote his latest comedy movie The DICtator. He arrived at today's photo-call in character as Admiral General Aladeen, wearing "a riding helmet, boots and jodhpurs." And according to the report, he looked to be struggling to keep his balance on the humped beast whilst he posed for snaps.
Never one to miss an opportunity for a publicity stunt, Sacha was surrounded by female models in mini skirts and military clothing. He also posed for photographs in front of an ornate palace entrance, covered in portraits of the character. The organizers of this year's Oscars were not particularly welcoming of Baron Cohen's unique method of promotion and reports surfaced that they had withdrawn his ticket to the event, in fear that he may do something to undermine the prestige of the evening. His response was to post a video on YouTube, in character, jokily warning the event organizers that if they did not give his ticket back, they would face "unimaginable consequences." At last week's London premiere he arrived on a tow truck, wielding a gold-plated pistol at photographers.
The DICtator stars Sacha in the lead role and also features cameos from Ben Kingsley and Megan Fox. The movie is released in the UK and Usa this week and so far, the majority of reviewers seem to be speaking favorably of the comic's latest venture.
