'Star Trek' star William Shatner is set to guest host British satirical panel show 'Have I Got News For You'. The 81-year-old starred as Captain Kirk for 79 episodes of the sci-fi show and various films. He is looking forward to appearing on the current affairs quiz show and made a humorous observation; "English sense of humour is different from American sense of humour. Luckily, I'm Canadian."
'Have I Got News For You' began having guest presenters when original presenter Angus Deayton left in 2002. Since then, hosts have included John Bishop, Alexander Armstrong, Jo Brand and Martin Clunes. On Friday 25th May 2012, Shatner will join regular team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton as well as guests Andy Hamilton and Charlie Brooker.
As well as 'Star Trek', 81-year-old Shatner is also known for his music career having so far released three studio albums, 'The Transformed Man', 'Has Been' and 'Seeking Major Tom'. He has also recorded a wake-up call that was played to the crew of Sts-133 in the Space Shuttle Discovery on March 7th 2011. Other guests of the panel show's 43rd series include former Labour advisor Alastair Campbell and the defeated London Mayor candidate Ken Livingstone.
