Will.i.am Unveils New Song To Celebrate Obama Winby Contributor | | 05 November 2008
Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am is to release a new song commemorating Barack Obama's election as the 44th US president.
The video for It's A New Day will be released online later today (Wednesday November 5th) following Mr Obama's historic victory.
The rapper and producer played an important role in the Illinois senator's election campaign, with his song Yes We Can - which set an Obama speech to music - becoming a huge viral video hit in February and spurring Mr Obama's selection as the Democratic nominee for the presidency.
Prominent celebrity Democrat supporters, such as Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Scherzinger, John Legend and Common, appeared in the black and white video.
And now It's A New Day, which Will.i.am has only just finished editing, will appear on the Dipdive website.
"This was inspired by America. It's about Obama winning, and really paying tribute to those people who are responsible for that happening, and that's the American people," he said.
The Heartbreaker singer called for new celebrity video contributions to the site.
"The whole thing is really for people to leave testimonials... to create a page and leave testimonials on how they feel about this American accomplishment," he explained.
