Late singer Amy Winehouse would often joke about marrying rapper Nas whenever the two pals partied together.
The pair developed a close relationship after meeting through mutual friend and collaborator, music producer Salaam Remi, and Nas reveals the Back to Black hitmaker first proposed marriage to him at a birthday party for reggae star Damian Marley back in 2009.
He tells the New York Post, "That's how she was. We'd play like that, even though we didn't have anything more than a (platonic) friendship. She had a big, loving heart."
And the I Can hitmaker will always remember Winehouse's down-to-earth spirit.
He says, "Amy was raw, she was real. A joy to be around and, man, there was nothing Hollywood about her."
The rapper features on the song Like Smoke from Winehouse's first posthumous record Lioness: Hidden Treasures.
