Moviemaker John Woo has picked up his second major film honour of the summer (10) - the director was awarded a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival in Italy on Friday (03Sep10).
Woo, famous for his blockbuster actions films, was honoured in his native Hong Kong for his contribution to the movie industry there in July (10). The Face/Off director received the Silver Bauhinia Star in recognition of his efforts to boost Chinese cinema.
Accepting his latest award on Friday, he revealed he's planning to make an even bigger impact on the international movie scene: "I would like to be a bridge between the good things of the West and the East, so we can further our mutual knowledge and build a strong friendship."
The prolific filmmaker, 64, has been the brains behind movies like Hard Target, Broken Arrow and Mission Impossible II.
