Woody Allen - Woody Allen To Return To Acting Alongside Jesse Eisenberg
Woody Allen will make his acting return by starring alongside Jesse Eisenberg in his new movie 'The Bop Decameron'. Allen has been largely absent from the screen in recent years, instead choosing to take up a role behind the camera, however, he is set to take up a starring role in his new comedy, reports Cinema Blend.
Although little is known about the movie's plot, 'The Bop Decameron' is said to be Allen's first even Italian financed production and is being distributed by Italian Medusa Films. The movie will star Woody alongside 'Inception' star Ellen Page and Spanish actress Penelope Cruz. However, fans of the actor will be anticipating his scenes with the young 'The Social Network' star Jesse Eisenberg, who some commentators have compared to the New York actor in his prime. Allen, whose latest movie 'Midnight in Paris' received rave reviews following its premiere at Cannes, has also enlisted Alec Baldwin for the new movie, as well as Greta Gerwig and Judy Davis. It will be the first time Allen has acted in one of his movies since 'Scoop', which was generally criticised upon its release in 2006.
Despite gaining most recognition for his filmmaking, Woody Allen was nominated for an Academy Award for his acting performance alongside Diane Keaton in the 1977 movie 'Annie Hall'.
