Wynnona Judd 's husband and drummer, Michael Scott 'Cactus' Moser has had his leg amputated, following a motorcycle accident on Saturday (August 20, 2012). A representative for the country singer confirmed the news to Tmz and revealed that Michael's leg was severed at the scene and doctors made the decision to amputate the leg above the knee. The crash happened in South Dakota and he was rushed to hospital in Rapid City, where he received emergency treatment. In addition to the amputation, Moser has also had to undergo surgery on his hand.
Wynonna's rep told Tmz "Judd and Moser appreciate all of the quick medical and police responders as well as the hospital staff and well-wishes from family, friends and fans." Wynonna Judd cancelled the concert that she was scheduled to play on Saturday night; she had been riding in front of him, on a second motorbike at the time of the crash but is not thought to have been involved in the accident, according to the Daily Mail. The driver of the Chevy Malibu, with which Moser collided is also not thought to have been injured. At the time of the accident, Moser was being cited for driving on the wrong side of the road and for not having a license to operate a motorbike.
Wynonna and Michael have known each other for over 25 years; they met whilst touring in the 1980s and they wed in June, after dating for three years. Moser plays drums in Judd's band, the Big Noise.
