Screenwriter/actress Nia Vardalos Has Thrilled Fans Of Her Hit Romantic Comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding By Confirming The Entire Cast Of The 2002 Cult Favourite Will Be Returning For A Planned Sequel.
Vardalos revealed last year (14) that she was working on a follow-up to the Oscar-nominated independent film, about a woman from a traditional Greek family who falls in love with an American man, and now she has confirmed she'll be reprising her role as main character Toula Portokalos, opposite John Corbett, who will return as her onscreen husband, and all of their co-stars, including her movie parents Michael Constantine and Lainie Kazan, and former pop star Joey Fatone, who played cousin Angelo.
During an interview on U.S. breakfast show Today on Monday (20Apr15), Vardalos explained, "We have gone to great lengths to keep the story under wraps of the sequel, coming soon... and so it's been really fun to keep a secret. We even wrote fake audition scenes for the actors that we brought in.
"But, I can tell you one thing... I wrote the script hoping that the whole cast would come back, 'cause I invited everyone to the (announcement) party, and they have all come back."
Vardalos' announcement comes a day after the 13th anniversary of the U.S. release My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
