Following Nick Cannon 's hospitalization on February 10th 2012 for blood clots in his lungs, his wife Mariah Carey has been talking to Good Morning America about his health, with the event coming just a month after Cannon was again in hospital for kidney failure whilst the couple were holidaying in Aspen.
"We didn't know how big a deal it was at that moment," Carey commented in reference to the first hospitalization, continuing "It was a gradual thing. We ended up in a couple hospitals this year already." The result of the two trips to the doctors have resulted in Cannon being told he has to cut down his work schedule, something no doubt hard to do for a man ubiquitous in the American entertainment world. However he has since ceased hosting his daily radio morning show, and Carey said that she was fully behind the decision.
"The best thing I think was the choice that he made to leave the radio show and just focus on 'America's Got Talent' and 'Up All Night,' the singer commented, adding "The thing is, he's a young healthy person. It's about changing the lifestyle . and just an awareness of what can really happen to you no matter how young or in great shape you are. I think, like he always does, he's going to turn something that happened into a positive thing."
