British rockers Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn offended boyband One Direction at the recent BRIT Awards by snubbing the pop stars during the ceremony.

The ex-Oasis star and his former Britpop rival were invited to the London prizegiving last month (Feb13) to see bosses of music charity War Child pick up an honorary award, and they were drinking together when members of One Direction approached them.

Gallagher admits it was the "highlight of the night" when they told the singers to leave them alone.

He tells Time Out Dubai magazine, "We were both invited by War Child (this year) so we were sat on the same table. And it turns out, after all these years, that we're both actually really genial fellas. We got absolutely (drunk) and told One Direction to (go away) in unison, that was the highlight of the night."

When asked how the young pop stars responded to the snub, Gallagher replied, "I don't know, you better ask One Direction."
