Noel Gallagher kept it "fat and funky" when he played drums for Paul Weller.

'Wake Up The Nation' singer Paul said he was pleased to have secured the services of the former Oasis man for some recent studio tracks, and people don't always give him his due as a musician.

Paul told Absolute Radio: "I Haven't hired him, he came free. He's a great drummer. He always keeps it fat and funky, you know, that's how we like it.

"He's a good all-rounder, people don't realise what a good musician he is, he can plays keys, bass, all sorts really, harmonica, electric kettle, all sorts."

Although he has Noel playing for him, Paul isn't pledging an allegiance to either of the Feuding Gallagher brothers - who fronted Oasis together until they split last year - and recently wore clothes from Noel's brother, Liam's Pretty Green clothing range onstage for his set at the Virgin Media V Festival.

Paul added: "Funnily enough, I'm going to wear a jacket which they made up for me. I've been to the store, Liam's got some great clothes."
