Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has paid tribute to George Best by saying the late soccer superstar was cool enough to play in the WONDERWALL band.

Gallagher was devastated to hear his friend Best died of multiple organ failure on 25 November (05), and fondly remembers him as both a sporting legend and a style icon.

He says, "Georgie transcended football. He was called the fifth beatle and he looked cool as f**k.

"He owned a nightclub and a clothes shop, drove a Ferrari and shagged Miss World.

"The only thing he didn't do in his life that was cool was play music, and he probably would have been good at that, too."
