Johnny Depp joined the shock-rocker Marilyn Manson onstage yesterday for Revolver magazine's Golden Gods Awards. As Manson started growling the opening bars to his cover of EURYTHMICS' 'Sweet Dreams,' he was joined onstage by a man with a wide brimmed hat with a large feather in it, playing guitar. that man turned out to be none other than the Hollywood actor Johnny Depp.
As the song ended, Manson shouted to the crowd "If you don't recognize my personal friend ... my personal savior, my personal guitar hero ... Johnny Depp." According to People magazine, they then went on to play Marilyn Manson's 'The Beautiful People' again with Depp on guitar. Of course, Depp has previous form when it comes to the world of rock music. He played guitar on Oasis' recording of 'Fade Away' from their 1997 album Be Here Now and also had a band named 'P' along with Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes and Red Hot Chili Peppers' bass player Flea.
Marilyn Manson will be releasing a new album, Born Villain, in May 2012. Depp also appears on the album, playing lead guitar and drums on a cover of Carly Simon's 'You're So Vain,' which will appear as a bonus track on the album. A limited edition white vinyl version of the album will also be released in the UK and Europe in celebration of Record Store Day.
