Oprah Winfrey is set to air her biggest show of the year today (19th November 2010), the annual 'Oprah's Favorite Things', which sees the queen of daytime television showcasing gifts she thinks would make suitable presents for the holiday season. Audience members then traditionally receive the items for nothing.
Although the episode was filmed several weeks ago, little is known about what will feature on this year's list, but the 56-year-old spoke to ABC News about how certain members of the audience had gotten over-excited, she said, "We had a couple of paramedics on standby because this audience - I've seen a lot over the years, but I've never seen people act like that". Bernadine Thomas, a school principal who was present for the filming, said, "It was just too exciting. People were screaming and jumping, and I really wanted to jump and scream myself but I couldn't get up that fast". The usual set for Winfrey's show was transformed into a version of the North Pole for the episode, with fake snow and gingerbread houses.
Last year's 'Favorite Things' was cancelled for reasons unknown, but the 2008 list included the 'Oprah's Holiday Hits' CD, and 'hot chocolate cones'. In 2007, a Samsung HD camcorder, a JOSH GROBAN CD, and an LG refrigerator were among the gifts.
