Oprah Winfrey embarrassed her best friend's son at his graduation - by collecting an honorary doctorate at the same ceremony.
The TV titan was awarded a degree at the Duke University in Durham, South Carolina over the weekend (09-10May09).
And the media mogul took the opportunity to poke fun at her godson - best pal Gayle King's son William - as she took to the stage to give the 4,400 graduates a commencement speech.
And the young academic was left red-faced - because he has never told anyone of his connection to the small screen superstar.
She told her fellow graduates, "Will never wants people to know he knows me. I'm like his crazy aunt that they let out at commencements."
But Winfrey did take the opportunity to inspire the educated revellers - urging them to be kind to others.
She explained, "One of the best ways to enhance your own life is to enhance somebody else's.
"Each of us has to stand in our own shoes. Will you stand in them in humility and compassion and courage? Every day will give you a chance to make that choice.
"How can I help somebody else move to higher ground? That is success. That's it."
