Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey's endorsement of presidential candidate Barack Obama has damaged her popularity, according to polls.
Political science staff at Fordham University in the U.S. have gathered the results of various polls carried out since Winfrey pledged her support for Obama's White House Campaign last spring (07).
They claim 65 per cent of Americans looked upon her favourably three months after her announcement - and that figure dropped to 51 per cent after another four months.
Latest poll figures, compiled last month (Mar08), revealed that Winfrey has lost her status as America's favourite talk show host to Ellen DeGeneres. Of the 1.35 million people asked which daytime host "made their day", 46 per cent said DeGeneres and only 19 per cent voted for Winfrey.
