Orlando Bloom wants to play Joe Strummer in a biopic of the late singer.

The 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' actor is a huge fan of The Clash singer - who died in 2002 at the age of 50 and is one of the most iconic figures of the British punk movement - and thinks his eventful life will make for a great film.

He said: "The life has the highs and lows and complexities to make for a feature film and a great soundtrack. I'd need to brush up my vocal and guitar skills."

Orlando recently revealed how Joe was one of his inspirations when he played egomaniacal punk band leader The Stain in 'Sympathy for Delicious', as well as other British music legends.

He said of getting his accent: "Actually, you know, I was a bit more of the Ian Brown, from The Stone Roses, school of thought; and also the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, from Oasis. I just thought that Northern-I mean, I didn't do a Manchester accent, I did a broad Northern, because a lot of the great British bands, even the Beatles, they all came from the north of England.

"But I just thought that lent itself really well to the attitude of the character, like, 'We're the best fooking band in the world and fook you if you don't believe it!' You know what I mean? Also, a little bit of Joe Strummer goes a long way in that respect."
