David Guetta
The World is Mine
Virgin Records - RELEASE DATE: 14th February 2005

On 14th February 2005, Virgin Records release a brand new single from the man who changed the face of the French club scene and much much more, David Guetta.

From the artist who brought us the worldwide megahit, ‘Just A Little More Love’, David releases a brand new single, in the shape of ‘The World Is Mine’. An Electro-Pop monster, the single gives us even more reason to be excited about the imminent arrival of David’s forthcoming, much anticipated second album, ‘Guetta Blaster’, out at the end of February.

Combining the vocal talents of JD Davis, the lead singer with Sinema and another wonderful vocal gem Guetta discovered, with the anthemic choruses and peppering of synthesised riffs, the new single provides a very heady mix for a tune that is one of the standout tracks on the new album. With the aim of creating a song which would lend a nod to Depeche Mode, personal favourites of David’s, only someone of his not inconsiderable talents could take a Simple Minds sample of ‘Someone Somewhere In Summertime’ and make it into a contemporary classic.

‘The World Is Mine’ is perhaps the first Guetta single to be released that truly demonstrates his early musical influences. A big winner in the eyes of Pete Tong, it was the biggest track of Tong’s latest US tour and the Deep Dish mix found its way into the hands of Sander Kleinenberg who has had his crowds singing along to every word since the summer.

The Deep Dish mix has now been given the ‘Essential New Tune’ accolade and rightly so. The U.S. duo are obviously on a production roll as they lend the track a deep percussive undertow and a fantastic pulsing bass line, they then let the anthemic melodies do their damage.

Ali & Sharem loved David’s vibe so much on his mix of ‘Flashdance’ they have delivered an equally exceptional rework. On the flipside, Guetta’s Parisian fellows Blackstrobe turn in one of their best remixes of the year (their personal favourite). A stuttering electro groove, a fantastic warped bass, melodies that keep on building and a killer acid drop….. you can’t ask for much more.

Promo 2 maybe surpasses even this, featuring a storming F*** Me I’m Famous remix from Guetta and his production partner Garaud, which encapsulates the vibe of David’s untouchable F*** Me I’m Famous Ibiza Pacha Parties, devastating dancefloors across Europe. It’s doubled with an Antoine Claraman dub to which teases the track into broader house clubs.

This Summer’s F*** Me I’m Famous lock out events saw P-Diddy, Kate Moss, Damon Dash and Jade Jagger in the house – fan Simon Le Bon in the booth and 8000 cool clubbers ram the floor till dawn…and refuse to leave!

A fantastic single taken from an ambitious album project that also features guest spots from Stereo MCs, Miss Thing and foremost Gospel collaborator Chris Willis, who also featured on ‘Just A Little More Love’ and last Summer’s club smash ‘Stay’, on the LP too.

David’s back in the UK in December to film the suitably sexy video for ‘The World Is Mine’, and returns at the end of January into February for nine headline DJ dates in the UK and Ireland, details as follows:

January Thursday 27th London, Discoteque @ The End

Friday 28th Leeds, Mission
