A Shopkeeper will not appear
(Super 8 recordings)

With a vocal range spanning the likes of Michael Crawford, John Barry, The Nolans and most of all Abba; this London formed quintet, three of which being of the female persuasion, give the impression that making music is fun and a piece of cake. However, this second album was actually three years in the making, but it was certainly worth the wait with tracks like ‘One Step Forward/Two Steps back’ adding a darker,

more bluesy touch to the Abba style. The main vocal duties come from Mark Targett (also guitar) and Allison Thompson (Trumpet), who gel together like Morecambe & Wise; it is all in the timing you see? ‘File Under S’ is a great example of the diversity of Heist, as Targett takes over the main singing duties with his Michael Crawford style, accompanied by eerie piano inclusive instrumentals before Thompson joins in to pick up the tempo and bring the number to a heroic end.

Closet Abba lovers and proud ones are advised to go straight to track twelve ‘Business As Usual’, a quaint and compelling reworking of ‘Fernando’ that will do more to make ABBA popular again than a thousand tribute bands. Heist raid their musical knowledge to give us fourteen tracks of captivating and alluring indie/pop music, with a sense of fun and seriousness mingled together, making it is hard to differentiate between the two.
