Protest Live

celebrate the launch of TGR’s ‘Soul Purpose’ film – an epic visual feast showcasing the world’s finest boarders strutting their slick stuff in places as diverse as Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Russia, British Columbia, Wyoming, Oregon, Utah and Alaska.

Between November and March, London’s infamous Electrowerkz is being taken over once a month by Protest Recordings to host a string of TGR Madness events as part of a pan-European tour taking in 14 territories. So far, these inspired events have had the punters gasping for more and that is exactly what they’re going to get on 14 th January when Protest Live opens its 2005 account with a generous dose of industrial-strength partying at Electrowerkz. This time round it’s a gripping all-out riffing assault with the hotly-tipped Ladyfuzz show-casing their blend of edgy pop sensibilities and new-wave chic that has earned them the honour of Single of the Week on BBC 6Music. They head a star-studded bill that also includes sample-tastic Spanish punk-rockers Santa Cruz and West London trail-blazers The Dash, who have supported The Libertines and worked with Strokes producer extraordinaire Gordon Raphael. Last but by no means least come The Zapatistas who make a textured racket, mixing influences as varied as nu wave, hiphop, and indie to make angular pop for dancefloors everywhere. Their live show is rapidly picking up a reputation for being fast, loud, and fun, making comparisons to the Strokes and the Rapture seem slightly less like lazy journalism.... As if that wasn’t enough, there’ll be stellar DJ performances from the Flaxon Ptootch familia and Protest’s own resident ALX400, not to mention some purrfect prizes on offer, such as N-Gage devices, North Face back-packs, gifts from Dynastar, plus the chance to go into the final running at the end of the tour to win a Canon Pro PowerShot Pro1 & CP-330 as well as a ski trip for two to Bansko, Bulgaria including flights and accommodation .

Batten down the hatches, abandon all thoughts of resistance and brace your butts for a musical tour-de-force from the Protest protagonists
