The Black Velvets
“3345”
Brand New Single & UK Tour

14 th March 2005 sees Vertigo Records release the second single from The Black Velvets and the band have also announced that they will take their very own rock & roll circus around the UK for their first national headline tour throughout February. ‘3345’ is a rousing, pounding, foot stomping anthem written in honour of the bar on Liverpool’s Parr Street that the band have developed a love/hate relationship with.

Having already played gigs with everyone from The Who to The Killers to John Squire, The Black Velvets joined the rejuvenated Vertigo Records label in the summer of 2004 and quickly provoked the interest of NME, Q, Radio 1, Kerrang!, XFM, MTV2, The Fly. With their cocksure mix of rock, punk and glam aided and abetted by a classic northerner’s swagger and attitude it quickly became apparent that the band were going to be a force to be reckoned with. Towards the end of 2004 they released a limited edition single, the storming ‘Get On Your Life’, in typically excessive black velvet packaging, recorded their debut album in a sumptuous studio in the middle of Ireland (i.e. miles away from too many distractions) and played the Xfm Christmas party which has a knack of predicting the next big things (with The Libertines, The Darkness and Franz Ferdinand all playing the same event in previous years when they were unknown quantities).

Which bring us to 2005. The tour starts on the 1 st February at London’s Metro club and runs right the way through the month. As soon as that’s done and dusted, the band will be supporting Razorlight on 3 of their rescheduled dates and are also heading out on this year’s School of rock tour alongside the Glitterati and Hurricane Party.

‘3345’ was produced by Mike Crossey (who also produced the album) and mixed by John Cornfield (Razorlight/Muse) and will be available as ‘plectrum’ shaped 7” picture disc and two CD’s. The formats contain the exclusive tracks ‘Soul Saviour’ (on the 7” and 2 track CD) and ‘Not All The Time’ & ‘You’re So Rock ‘n’ Roll’ (on the maxi CD which will also contain the video for the single). As a nice touch the 7” is being cut at 33rpm and 45rpm… clever eh? There is also a ‘3345’ competition on their website, www.theblackvelvets.tv, where you simply have to roll a pair of dice twice and get a total of 15 (think about it) and you can win everything from a limited edition plectrum or a t-shirt to a holiday.
