One of the most exciting British bands to blast out of the north of England in a mighty long time, Sunderland whippersnappers The Futureheads follow their acclaimed second single ‘First Day’ (which narrowly missed a Top 40 placing when released on Fantastic Plastic back in July), and their barrage of wild summer festival ambushes, by going digital in some style for their third single release.

New single ‘A to B’ will hit the band’s official website www.thefutureheads.com on 27th October, towards the end of their biggest UK tour yet, which kicks off in Birmingham on 6th October.

The track will be accompanied by fully downloadable artwork, so The Futureheads growing army of fans can download the full single experience into their living rooms, absolutely gratis.

The band are also very pleased to announce that they signed a major long-term worldwide record deal with 679 Recordings (home to The Streets) on Monday 22nd September. They celebrated by drinking far too much (Dave threw up) and partying at London nightspot Trash until the early hours of Tuesday 23rd…

The Futureheads made a substantial splash (and won many new friends) on the UK festival circuit in 2003, with their short, sharp sets jam-packed with blazing guitars, whip-smart drums, razor-sharp lyrics and their totally unique brand of tight vocal interplay at the Glastonbury, T In The Park, Witnness, V2003 and Reading/Leeds festivals. Kerrang! described the shows as “Utterly fantastic… A blistering blend of early XTC, ‘Pink Flag’-era Wire and the greatest hits of post-punk which is simply awesome”…

You really cannot afford to miss them when they tour in October – UK dates (including a handful of lucky towns well-off the usual gigging radar) are as follows:

17/10 MIDDLESBROUGH CORNERHOUSE
18/10 DUNDEE WESTPORT BAR
19/10 GLASGOW BARFLY
20/10 NEWCASTLE CLUNY
22/10 SHEFFIELD FEZ CLUB

26/10 STOKE SUGARMILL
27/10 LIVERPOOL BARFLY
28/10 LEEDS PIG @ HI-FI CLUB

THE FUTUREHEADS are currently hard at work in a London studio on their debut album, which will be released by 679 in February 2004.
