Is this the coolest rock gang ever? The Guardian The New Single, out October 14th The Polyphonic Spree follow the release of their acclaimed debut LP, The Beginning Stages Of.., with a new single, Hanging Around, on October 14th. To mark the occasion, the band have launched a UK site at www.thepolyphonicspree.co.uk, where visitors get the chance to win a signed robe and tickets for all the UK dates. The single is a remixed version of the track on the LP and is backed by the bands cover of David Bowies Five Years (a traditional set closer) and new track Fields. Both of these recordings are from the bands recent Radio 1 Evening Session for Steve Lamacq. A second CD will feature tracks recorded at the bands recent sell out show at the Union Chapel in Islington. A limited edition 7 will feature Five Years on the B-Side. The Polyphonic Spree are rightly regarded as one of the most exciting new bands of the year. From their first performance at the Royal Festival Hall during the David Bowie curated Meltdown festival, through two packed, sold out shows at Londons Monarch to festival appearances in England, Scotland and Ireland, the band have been finding friends and seeing their fanbase grow at an incredible rate. Hanging Around is the second single by The Polyphonic Spree, following Augusts NME and Jo Whiley Single of the Week, Soldier Girl. The Polyphonic Spree embark on their first UK tour to support the release of Hanging Around.
