British singer Paloma Faith is convinced she has not been offered the coveted job of singing the James Bond theme tune because she is too keen to do it.

The Picking Up The Pieces hitmaker has publicly expressed her desire to follow in the footsteps of stars including Adele and Dame Shirley Bassey by recording a song for the spy franchise, but fears she has been snubbed because is so eager.

According to BBC Newsbeat, Faith said during a women's rights march in London, "In the industry that I'm in, if you ask for something or you seem like you want something you don't get it... You're supposed to pretend that you're really cool as a cucumber and stuff just comes to you, but I'm not really that type of person.

"But now I've messed it for myself because I've told everyone that I would like to do it... I pledge allegiance with previous great Bond theme singers like Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and Tina Turner. I feel like I was born to do it."

Sam Smith is the favourite to record the theme tune for the upcoming Bond film Spectre, which is due for release later this year (15).
