Socialite Paris Hilton was moved to tears during the premiere of The Bling Ring at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Thursday (16May13) because it made her relive the "violating" burglary she was subjected to in the late 2000s.

Sofia Coppola's new movie is based on the so-called 'Bling Ring' thieves, who snatched more than $3 million (£1.9 million) worth of goods from the Hollywood homes of celebrities such as Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom.

The reality Tv star makes a cameo in the film and settled down to a screening of the finished project in Cannes - but Hilton admits watching the movie was overwhelming.

Speaking to New York Magazine, she says, "I was really emotional watching it. During some parts of it, I literally had tears in my eyes and I wanted to cry.

"I knew what happened with the burglaries, but I had never actually seen it - so watching it happen, I was like, 'Oh my God, this really happened to me. These kids were really in my house and did this to me.'

"It's so violating. It just made me really angry and upset, and when I see these kids, I want to, like, slap them."
