Tennis star-turned-TV host Pat Cash was left red-faced after he referred to Australian Wimbledon component Lleyton Hewitt's pregnant fiancee as "up the duff" live on television yesterday (22JUN05).

Tactless Cash was commentating for the BBC's coverage of the annual London tennis tournament, when he noticed Australian actress and singer REBECCA CARTWRIGHT, 21, watching her 24-year-old fiance playing JAN HERNYCH.

Not realising the microphone was still on as he noticed Cart, Cash said, "Hey, bet she's up the duff."

Spectators burst into laughter, leaving the former HOME AND AWAY soap star blushing.

A BBC spokesman says, "We would like to apologise on behalf of Pat Cash because we do feel the term was inappropriate. It is certainly not a term we would have chosen."

Hewitt and Cartwright announced their engagement in January (05) after a whirlwind six week courtship. They are expecting their first child in October (05).
