Bruce Springsteen has recorded a new tune with his wife PATTI SCIALFA to benefit model Christy Turlington-burns' pregnancy initiative.
Scialfa was asked to contribute a song to the Every Mother Counts compilation, which will raise funds for charities dedicated to improving child and maternal health in developing countries, and she decided to bring her husband onboard.
She tells RollingStone.com, "He reminded me of this song I wrote when our kids were really little. I was a little ambivalent about it (because) I felt that, vocally, it wasn't in my wheelhouse."
The couple's Children's Song appears on the upcoming compilation alongside tracks donated by famous mums including Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.
Springsteen isn't credited on the album.
Scialfa explains, "It was supposed to be an album of just mothers. It would probably draw undue attention to the song if his name was on it."
Every Mother Counts will be available at Starbucks coffee shops in America from 12 April (11) until U.S. Mother's Day (08May11).
