A galaxy of Hollywood stars, including Paul Newman, Reese Witherspoon and Nancy Sinatra, have donated thousands of dollars to US Senator Hillary Clinton's political campaign.

Clinton, who is fundraising for the Democratic party, intends to use the money, which now stands at an impressive $17.1 million (GBP9 million), for a presidential bid.

Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward both donated $2,000 (GBP1,135), while Walk the Line beauty REESE WITHERSPOON gave $1000 (GBP570) alongside Edie Falco and DANNY DeVITO, according to the New York Post.

Chat-show host Jerry Springer gave the most to the cause - $4200 (GBP2,400) - while NANCY SINATRA gave a modest $200 (GBP110).

You are right, he was never "the standard", but using her looks as a determination of the validity of her candidacy? That's silly, but I guess allowing Rush Limbaugh or Neal Boortz to influence you rather than Hollywood might do this...

Please Hollywood, donate your fortunes to Hillary so she and the Democratic Party think she is invincable. She is by far the easiest Dem to defeat in 2008. This could be a 49 state run with only her home state of ?????? voting for her. She is a nasty, crooked, socialist hack. I can hardly wait....

And I wouldn't call her a lightweight, she's very much a socialist, that's hardly lightweight. This is why these wingnuts are so po'ed about her.

Very disappointed in Reese Witherspoon. Thought she was a lot smarter than that. I vote with my wallet, and my wallet says no money for liberal or liberal causes.Democrats have become a joke. The Alito hearings were ridiculous. To see Ted Kennedy question Sam Alito about ethics was beyond belief since as far as I know, Sam Alito was not expelled from Harvard for cheating or never left a young girl to drown in his car while he ran home to his wife. What happened to our two party system? From where I sit, it looks like Democrats are going the way of the Whigs. They have become some sort of grotesque caricature and it's only a matter of time that they lose the house, senate, white house and SC. Oh wait.......

Thank you for publishing a list so I know whose movies I will continue to see. Good to see these celebrities are awake. We are suffering throught the worst president in American history, the most surpressed constitutional freedoms and incredible friction with allies and enemies alike. As senator, vp or the prez, Hilary's honest and intellegent approach could give this country a much needed boost.

It becomes harder and harder to watch movies that are not about teenage idiots or african americans or these political assholes. Paul Newman has always been a liberal but he is one of the greatest actors around and the great work he has done with the proceeds of his food lines should not be criticized.

I would really like to know who appointed all these stars God and the fact that they want to tell us who to vote for and what to think and they are the only one smart enough to know anything about the issues. They just don't get it. We don't go to movies for political points of view, we go to be intertained.AND TO THINK THEY DON'T GET IT WHY PEOPLE ARE STAYING AWAY FROM THE MOVIES IN DROVES.ALSO, WE DON'T WANT THEM TO BELITTLE OUR GOD EITHER.

Long ago, when our embassy was overran in Iran and our people held hostage it was traitorous to aid Iran. Marc Rich brokered their oil to enable them to operate. When Bill Clinton left office he apparently sold the traitor a pardon. Google "Rodham pardon" to see others who were able to buy pardons through her brothers, Hugh and Tony and Roger Clinton. The question I have is how much would she charge Osama Bin Laden for a pardon?

What part does Hollywood get? They certainly don't get that box office numbers are down because of their political views. They are paid to learn lines, read scripts and entertain us. They need to stick to the script! They apparently don't understand that the trash they put out has caused a great swell in hate America. And how many times can they remake the same old worn out stuff? Get a clue, write something worth our time. And remember, thanks to you and yours, George W. Bush is our President. Keep talking, we'll keep balking! But for you who remain out of the political frey, keep making movies, help is on the way!
