DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON is in talks to star in new Disney movie 'Moana'.

The 42-year-old actor is being lined up to appear in the much-anticipated new Disney film, which will tell the story of an adventurous teenager who sets out on an impossible-looking mission to fulfill her ancestors' quest.

Dwayne - who's previously starred in 'Pain & Gain' and the 'Fast & Furious' franchise - is wanted to voice the part of a demi-god known as Maui, Empire reports.

In the film, Dwayne's proposed character joins Moana as she sets out on her mission to find a fabled island.

The pair must tackle an unenviable array of challenges, including a giant see creature, as they try to reach their end destination.

The new Disney animation is being led by Ron Clements and John Musker, the directors who were responsible for 'Aladdin', 'The Princess And The Frog' and 'The Little Mermaid'.

However, before possibly appearing in 'Moana', Dwayne will star in 'Furious 7', the latest film in the 'Fast & Furious' franchise.

The film, which is set for release in April, will also feature Vin Diesel and will mark the final on-screen appearance of Paul Walker, who died in a car accident on November 30, 2013.

Vin, 47, has previewed the film, saying: ''We all went above and beyond to make Pablo [Walker's nickname] proud, but man, I wish he could see what we have created and just how far we have come.''
