Bookmakers in England have suspended betting on a Brit Awards category - after a flurry of wagers on Paul Weller led to fears the result has leaked.
The legendary British rocker, 50, is nominated alongside singers Will Young, Ian Brown, The Streets - aka rapper Mike Skinner - and James Morrison for the Best Male prize at the ceremony in London on Wednesday (18Feb09).
But bets on former The Jam frontman Weller taking home the award have been suspended after an avalanche of stakes were placed in just a few hours on Sunday (15Feb09).
British bookies Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, and Tote have all stopped taking wagers on Weller, while bosses at William Hill have slashed the star's odds from 5/1 to 1/5 favourite.
A source tells Britain's The Mirror newspaper, "This kind of behaviour only happens when someone knows something."
