Paula Abdul's new reality television show 'Live to Dance' experienced dwindling audience figures following its second episode on Wednesday (5th January 2011), reports Reuters. The singer songwriter's return to television after quitting American Idol had garnered a large audience for the show's premiere, but figures have since begun to sink.
Audience numbers for the dance competition's second episode plummeted 25 per cent from its premiere, finishing with a 1.8 rating and just 7.7 million viewers. The numbers meant 'Live to Dance' scraped a top-five finish for the 8pm timeslot, and new episodes of ABC comedies 'The Middle', 'Better With You', and 'Modern Family' drew audiences of 9.3 million, 7.4 million, and 11.7 million respectively. An episode of 'Cougar Town' starring Courteney Cox finished just behind 'Live to Dance' with figures of 6.7 million. All of the comedies recorded higher figures than their last original episodes back in early December 2010.
The CBS dance contest, based on the UK version 'Got to Dance', sees Adbul joined by choreographer TRAVIS PAYNE and Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt on the judging panel in search for the 'next big thing in dance'. The winner of the competition will be presented with a cheque for $500,000.
