Penelope Cruz is eyeing a role opposite Johnny Depp in the next Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, according to reports.
Keira Knightley, the lead female in the previous three swashbuckling films, quit the franchise in 2008, while Orlando Bloom and MACkenzie Crook announced earlier this year (10) they will also be missing from the fourth installment.
Depp has signed on to resurrect his eccentric character Captain Jack Sparrow for a reported pay cheque of $33.6 million (£21 million) for next year's (11) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
And now Cruz is in discussions to star in the movie, which is to be helmed by her Nine director Rob Marshall, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
