LATEST: The coat worn by eighties pop star Pete Burns on a British reality TV show is not made from the fur of endangered gorillas, but a native African monkey.

The DEAD OR ALIVE singer, 46, risked being arrested after bragging his coat was made from real gorilla pelt - which would have been in breach of endangered species laws - on Channel 4 show Celebrity Big Brother.

Police entered the Big Brother house at Elstree Studios in England yesterday (19JAN06) and confiscated the coat following complaints from animal rights campaigners.

Experts from the Natural History Museum in London confirmed the garment was not made from a gorilla, but from black and white colobus monkeys.
