Veteran folk star PETE SEEGER is set to receive a special honour from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in recognition of his long-running music career.
The 92 year old will be presented with the Distinguished Service prize at a ceremony in New York next month (May12) for his contribution to music.
Playwright Tony Kushner will hand Seeger his certificate and $1,000 (£625) prize money.
In his acceptance letter to the Academy, Seeger writes, "I am glad we are all realising that the arts, in a broad sense, may save the world, save the human race."
