Friday Night Lights creator Peter Berg has taken aim at U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for allegedly using the show's popular catchphrase as part of his campaign.

Berg coined the term 'Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose' for the American TV series several years ago, and now he has called on Romney to stop using the line to connect with voters during speeches and on his Facebook.com page.

On Friday (12Oct12) he fired off a cease-and-desist letter to the politician's camp, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An excerpt reads, "I was not pleased when I saw you (had) plagiarized this expression to support your campaign by using it on posters, your Facebook page, and as part of your stump speeches. Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series."

Berg adds, "Your use of the expression falsely and inappropriately associates Friday Night Lights with... (your) campaign. Mitt, we all wish you and your family the best. We are grateful for your support of the show, but we are not in any way affiliated with you or your campaign. Please come up with your own campaign slogan."
