Animal-loving JAMES BOND star Pierce Brosnan has hit out at countries that hunt for whales.

The Irish actor was guest of honour at the London launch of a new $2.7 million (GBP1.5 million) yacht yesterday (06JUN04), with quiet engines and a 'whale-safe propeller' to study whales without harming them.

At the ceremony at the River Thames' St Katherine's Docks, Brosnan - a celebrity spokesman for the INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR ANIMAL WELFARE (IFAW) - said, "Norway, Iceland and Japan: you do not have a licence to kill the whales of the world. I'm standing here as a father. I want my children and my children's children to be able to enjoy whales."
