Pink Floyd star David Gilmour accompanied his adopted son to court on Thursday (14Jul11) for a sentencing hearing after the youngster pleaded guilty to violent disorder in London's student riots.
Cambridge University student Charlie Gilmour was caught on camera last December (10) swinging from a flag on the Cenotaph war memorial, joining an angry mob demonstrating against a hike in university tuition fees.
He was arrested days later and accused of involvement in an attack on a car carrying Charles, Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, during the protest.
Charlie's mother Polly Samson and rocker dad David were both in the public gallery on Thursday at Kingston Crown Court in south west London, where the court heard how the 21 year old jumped on a security car escorting the British royals and ransacked a nearby clothing store.
The disgraced student was seen covering his face with his hands as prosecutors played video footage of his antics during the demonstrations.
In one clip, Charlie was heard saying, "They broke the moral law, we're going to break all the laws. Arson. Destroy. We are not going to stand for it any more: storm Parliament."
Sentencing has been adjourned until Friday (15Jul11) to allow Judge Nicholas Price to decide whether Gilmour threw a trash can at a car in the Royal convoy, which he denies.
