Pirates Of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp has spoken of his gratitude to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London for saving daughter LILY-ROSE's life.

The 47-year-old actor was filming at London's Pinewood Studios when his seven-year-old daughter was taken ill with E.coli poisoning earlier this year.

He and partner Vanessa Paradis kept a bedside vigil for their daughter at the hospital until she recovered.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday's Live magazine, Depp said: "It was the most frightening thing we have ever been through. It was hell for all of us.

"But the magic is that she pulled through beautifully. She was amazing - a strong, strong kid. Great Ormond Street was terrific; such a great hospital."

The actor has finally signed off one of his favourite characters, the hilarious Captain Jack Sparrow, in style following the end of The Pirates franchise. Depp teamed up with one of his life-long heroes, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, who had a cameo in the film as Sparrow's father.

"Keith was just so cool," Depp said. "A terrific guy to hang out with."

The movie premiered in LA over the weekend and is expected to hit cinemas in the UK on Friday.
