Organisers of the MTV Australian Video Music Awards (AVMAs) have come under fire from irate stars and fans over their "shambolic" treatment on Wednesday night (13APR06). Guests claim they were left waiting for hours without food, while performers complained about poor sound quality, and fans insist they were "treated like cattle". Powderfinger rocker BERNARD FANNING said after the ceremony at Sydney's SuperDome, "Eight of us have been stuck in a room bored out of our f**king minds for the last eight hours." Meanwhile, The Darkness guitarist Dan Hawkins is critical of the venue's acoustics: "When they're accepting an award and giving a speech, it's like, all you hear is mumbling. "I was next to Ashlee Simpson when we gave an award to her and I couldn't hear a f**king word she said." The AVMAs have been derided in the international press for naming Simpson, who hosted the event, Best Female Artist ahead of Madonna.
