EXSTATICA runs the gamut from torment to joy through the music of Michael Torke, Arnold Schoenberg, Michael Nyman and the Pet Shop Boys.

The evening begins with a synesthetic rollercoaster ride through minimalist Torke's explosion of intensified sound, Ecstatic Orange before plunging into the magical, incandescent bliss of two star-crossed lovers in Schoenberg's Transfigured Night.

Sexual pleasure comes into focus in a performance of Michael Nyman's lustful songs I Sonetti Lussuriosi set to the explicit texts of 16th century poet Pietro Aretino. Marie Angel who gave its world premiere in 2008, returns to perform the controversial work which warranted a 'Parental Advisory' sticker on its CD release.

Physical and intellectual ecstasy are bound together in a special version of the Pet Shop Boys' classic dance hit 'I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing' where Neil Tennant expressed the immortal desire to 'take all my clothes off and dance to the Rite of Spring.'
