Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. are back. The Detroit duo - Josh Epstein and Daniel Zott - are putting the finishing touches to their upcoming second album 'The Speed of Things' that will be released later this year. The new album is the follow-up to their 2012 debut 'It's A Corporate World' which earned praise for its blend of Motown, electro and psychedelic sounds.
Now the pair are poised to release the first single from the album, the dreamy 'Dark Water', onAugust 12th on Warner Bros. Records.
They explained: "Dear Internet and users of the World Wide Web, it is with much joy that we wish to present the video for Dark Water. We feel that this video really encapsulates the tone of the song in a haunting and strangely beautiful way. Also, there are claymation versions of us - which has been a life-long goal. Mission accomplished"
'Dark Water' is the second song to preview the release of 'The Speed of Things' after the Amtracremix of 'If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)' was a recent Track ofthe Day at Clash.
Within a year of posting a self-produced EP on their website, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. were performing in front of 10-15,000 people at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, and ended up selling out headline dates across the States. The buzz led to a deal with Warner Bros. Records, who released the band's debut album as they became one of the most blogged about bands of 2011according to Hype Machine.
The band capped off the promotion for their debut album with a triumphant performance of their single 'Simple Girl' on Conan O'Brien, accompanied by a string quartet, and recently returned to the show to give 'Dancefloor' its largest audience to date.
