Electric Picnic 2013 - Trailer Park Unveils New Stage As 'The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow'

The TRAILER PARK rolled into Stradbally for the very first time last year, now they're back, and they're bigger and better. With a new stage and some great acts the Trailer Park will bring back to the Electric Picnic that heady mix of oddities and eccentrics that punters happen upon randomly, and bring a smile back to those in danger of taking their music and literature too seriously.
 
The vintage vacation park pays part homage to the great American mobile home and its front porch, and part salute to the dubious memories of the Caravan Holiday. At its centre, a stunning theatrical enclosure made of joined-up, stacked campers, vintage caravans, mobile homes, vintage and retro trailers, this area will now be significantly expanded to create an eccentric community of performers, styler's, feeders and imbibers, nestling between Body & Soul and Salty Dog.
 
The CARAVAN STAGE will see some smoking bands perform in the living room, bedroom, kitchen and lavatory of a mobile home. This year will feature Southern trailer park fare from washboard ticklers PRISON LOVE, gumbo-lovers CROW BLACK CHICKEN, WHISTLE, TAE LANE TENSION, as well as wholesome Johnny Cash love-in GET RYTHYM and many others, The unstoppably great SANDERSON JONES will lead a Midnight Mass, raiding the neighbouring Salty Dog Stage of its sin-heavy congregation and serenading them to Trailer Park with a full brass band BOOKA BRASS to cleanse them of their demons. Newcomers CASSIA AND MILO, Corkonians MUKAI, and I'M YOUR VINYL are the three to watch, while 50s rock 'n rollers THE PAVEMENT KINGS and hip-hopsters THIS SIDE UP will stretch the boundaries of caravan life..
 
There will be a new stage in Trailer Park this year-THE JERRY FISH ELECTRIC SIDESHOW-a vaudevillian carnival cabaret which brings together circus theatre and upbeat musical extravagance, and whose guest performers shall include LISA HANNIGAN, CATHY DAVEY, GAVIN JAMES, MICK FLANNERY, GAVIN GLASS BAND, THE LOST BROTHERS, COLM MAC CON IOMAIRE and plenty more friends of moustachioed emceeJERRY FISH, cultivated during his sordid lifetime in showbiz. An invitation to let your inner child run away with the circus, join the likes of exotic hula dancer SHIR MADNESS, contortionist GARY MICHAELS, burlesquettes THE PONY GIRLS, acrobat JONAH USA, clownsters KIDDING ENSEMBLE, and juggler SU NAMI, and do what you were supposed to do in this life and live it.
 
Leave your misery in FAIRY MOE'S EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE CLOAKROOM on your way in, then, when the day is all but wrapped up, join the hippest after-hour club in the known universe'TOGETHER DISCO', hosted by beardster RYAN SKELTON.
 
THE TRAILER PARK TEA GIRLS will fill you in on the gossip while you have a cuppa; THE FOOT HOSPITAL is where folks sink into a deckchair with the newspapers, while plunging their tired feet into a hot seaweed bath; THE DUBLIN VINTAGE FLEA MARKET, by Terri Murphy and David Jones, will provide trailer park makeovers (guys: clip in mullets; trucker hats; handle-bar moustaches; girls: false lashes; quiffs; gum and beauty spots) and then wheel out rails of 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s vintage clothing to sift through... and find the new you. UNCLE EARLS PHOTOSHACK will be on standby to make sure you never forget it.
 
Other additions to the Trailer Park include THE BIG LOVE INFLATABLE CHURCH, an inflatable Venus flytrap for single ladies wanting to get hitched in a setting that makes Vegas seem nun-like.THE LOST PLOT BOX will assist the hopelessly inept find some kind of aim for the day; THE BUZZ CONSULTANTS will open up an academy of hapless circus training, so if you'd like to learn to juggle appallingly, or be an unfunny clown, these professionals will teach you how to be amateurs. You might unexpectedly be flash-mobbed by CARAVANAOKE if you are hang out in Trailer Park, a DJ and 50 sets of headphones spring up and demand that you sing along.... AndJIMMY'S JUKE JOINT will serve up authentic gumbo and, in the very early hours of the morning, surprise you with southern sounds from LIGHTS OVER PHOENIX, ELEVATION FALLS and KEROUAC.
