Greco-roman Announces Debut Ep 'I'm Not Dancing' Out August 5th 2013

Following dancefloor-troubling releases by the ever-rising Disclosure, Vampire Weekend's Baio and label co-founder Joe Goddard featuring Boris Dlugosch, London via Berlin collective Greco-Roman present the 'I'm Not Dancing' EP by Tirzah.

Due out on August 5th 2013, the EP was produced by London-based genre-melding maverick Micachu aka Mica Levi of much-loved experimental pop band Micachu and the Shapes. Mica formed the group in 2008 and dropped her celebrated Filthy Friends mixtape the following year, featuring the likes of Ghostpoet, Toddla T, Man Like Me and Kwes alongside Tirzah, credited as 'Taz'. 

Micachu and Tirzah took a trip down to CDR night at Plastic People in their final year at school - chief goal: to get their track played on the London club's legendary soundsystem - and saw interest in their music well and truly piqued, in particular around a track titled 'Go Now' that the pair made in school circa 2005. Micachu went on to form her band while Tirzah delved into fashion, but the pair stayed close over the years and the 'I'm Not Dancing' EP sees them come full circle.

Mica debuted the infectious title track when she dropped into Boiler Room last year, tearing the place down with a surprise set made up entirely of her own productions and remixes. 'I'm Not Dancing' pairs Tirzah's assertive vocals with sparse off-kilter percussion to mesmerising effect.

The beat-driven bittersweet R'n'B of 'Inside Out' meanwhile first appeared in demo form as 'Nothing' on the Kwesachu Vol. 2 mixtape (you got it, the second in a series of collaborations between Kwes & Micachu), where the pair also covered Kanye West's 'Through The Wire'. The short and sweet 'Ooo Never' and woozy, aptly titled 'Slow Jam' close the EP.

The 'I'm Not Dancing' EP is released on August 5th 2013 on Greco-Roman.
