Interpol Headline The Nme Awards 2014 Tour In March And Release A Brand New Album Later This Year

Interpol mark their highly anticipated return with the news that they will be headlining the NME Awards Tour 2014, one of the most important events in the music calendar.

Kicking off at Glasgow's O2 Academy on March 18 before travelling to Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and closing at London's O2 Academy Brixton on March 27, the legendary NYC group will be joined by Temples, Royal Blood and Circa Waves on this eight date tour of the UK.

Kings of the post-punk revival, the incredible Interpol will perform tracks from their prestigious back catalogue, plus brand new tracks from their forthcoming fifth studio album, which will be released later this year.

Daniel Kessler of Interpol said, "We currently find ourselves in the UK finishing the new album so it feels only appropriate to announce our first UK dates of 2014 from here.  We're pleased to say that we'll be headlining this year's NME Awards Tour.  We had a great time playing the Awards Tour in 2003 and we're very much looking forward to our return.  It should be a lot of fun.  The UK crowds are among the best!"

NME editor, Mike Williams, said: "Here at NME we are always championing the best new talent, so securing three of Britain's most in demand breakthrough bands to kick off proceedings for the tour is totally exciting. Backed up with the world-beating return of Interpol - one of the most important bands to come out of New York ever - is also a massive coup for us."

Tickets go on presale at 9am on Wednesday 22 January via www.nme.com and are available on general sale from 9am on Friday 24 January.
